			“Selling the trip: how Broadway can win back its suburban audience” by Pekoe Group’s Gabriel Berkowitz for Broadway News — When you and your ad agency start talking about ad targeting for your Broadway show, it will be 10 seconds maximum before you hear five famous letters: NYDMA, or New York Designated Market Area. Outside of the five boroughs, the suburbs — in Long Island, Westchester County, Connecticut and New Jersey — account for the rest of that DMA. When marketing your show, the city is top of mind, but so much potential buying power lies just outside of it. The Broadway League’s 2024–2025 demographic report concluded that up until 2013, the suburbs outweighed the city when it came to ticket sales.
